When we as humans get sick we can do something about it. We hop in the car and go to the doctor to see what is wrong with us and how to fix it. However, the same does not hold true for our beloved felines. When your cat is having cat health problems they rely on us to know about it and to also fix it. It’s true that they have their own doctor’s to make them better but unless we notice they are sick they have no way to get there to feel better.
Here are some common cat health problems to watch out for.
1. On thing that could indicate a cat health problem is constant scratching. This could be an sign of your cat having fleas or even allergies.
2. If your cat starts drooling a lot and does not have any interest in the food that you are offering them, or does not want anything near their face, then that could be a sign that your feline is have mouth pains. Often times that will mean having a bad tooth the could need to be removed.
3. You also need to check your cats paws periodically to make sure they do not have any splinters or broken nails that can become infected.
Recognizing when your cat has severe cat health problems – cat urinary tract infection.
If your cat is constantly going to the litter box but the box is staying clean this could mean that they have a cat urinary tract infection. This can happen in both sexes of the cat and is from crystals forming in the urinary tract often due to the food that they eat. Another sign is if your cat is peeing blood.
My cat had a cat urinary tract infection and we found out when we were changing his litter box. He got in the empty box and urinated blood. We were told by the vet that we were very lucky that we found out when we did and that the crystals formed because of the cat food we were feeding him. The food we were feeding him was not cheap however he likened it to feeding my cats Twinkies. This is another great reason why we should be feeding our cats either homemade food or natural/organic cat food.
This can become very dangerous for your cat so it is very important to get this cat health problem solved quickly with a visit to the vet.
Treating severe cat health problems – cat urinary tract infection.
Your vet will let you know just what you need to do to make your cat healthy again and usually consists of changing your cats diet and medicine until the cat urinary tract infection is cleared up.
Making sure you look for signs that your cat may need your help or is in distress is extremely important when it comes to your cats overall health and in doing so will help insure your cat lives the long life they were intended to.
